Auditions for Bottled Genie were held Sat. March 19. Offers for all major roles will go out by Tues. I still have a few minor non-speaking roles open for males 20-30. See the "About the Company" page for how to get in touch with me.
Shooting will be done primarily on the weekends starting in mid April and ending in mid June. We usually have lunch from noon to 1 PM, shoot 1 PM to 6 PM, dinner around 6 PM. If everyone feels up to it, we might shoot a scene or two after dinner, or if there is a night scene). Substantial portions of the movie will be shot against a green screen (same technique as used in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow). A detailed schedule will be provided when the roles are offered (I'm still developing the schedule). No one will be required to be present on all shooting days, on average, only one or two days are needed for most parts. The Principal roles will require 2 to 6 weekends.
There is the possibility of deferred pay if I'm ever able to make money with this effort (but, the chances of that are small since this will be shot on digital video, not film). The 4 principals will receive 1% of the profits each, all others will receive 0.5% of the profits each. In order to make a profit, I must recoup over $20,000 in equipment and production expenses and there may be additional expenses associated with distribution. This is a non-Union shoot but SAG actors are welcome. Since this will be shot on video, SAG regulations do not apply.
All participants will receive a trailing credit in the movie and
a free VHS or DVD copy of the completed movie. (Only the 4 principals
will receive a leading credit). Free food will be served during shoots.
Actors must provide their own transportation. It is my intent to
submit the movie to film and video festivals (including Sundance if I can
make the Oct deadline) in order to obtain the interest of a theatrical
distributor (this is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow).
Due to the number of special effects, I might have to extend the completion
date until 2006. The animators and special effects artists also work
on a deferred pay basis (again provided a profit is realized) so they work
on it when they have the time. The special effects require many more
labor hours than the acting roles.
